4 Antibacterial Products That Can Help Acne

Posted on: 23 April 2020

Many people aim to use natural products in their skincare regimen, but when you deal with acne, it can be harder to find natural products that work. Fortunately, there are several natural products that have antibacterial properties and work well at reducing acne.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is a strong antibacterial product that is typically not used alone, but you can find it in products or diluted with a carrier oil. Ideally, if you want to try tea tree oil, try a bar of soap containing the product and use it as an antibacterial face wash. When you want to try spot-treating acne, dilute the tea tree oil with a non-comedogenic oil, such as jojoba, hemp seed, or rosehip seed oils. Start by adding a single drop of tea tree oil to 10 drops of the carrier oil. Depending on how your skin reacts, you may need to double the carrier oil to make the tea tree oil less concentrated.

CBD

CBD products also have antibacterial properties and can be used in several ways to reduce acne and inflammation. If you have severe acne, you should try consuming CBD products in a tincture or edible form. Consuming CBD in this way can reduce widespread inflammation and also reduce bacteria that may be the culprit for acne. If you only have minor acne problems, you can still try antibacterial CBD tinctures or edibles, but you might rather use topical treatments. Ideally, if you will apply the product to your face, you want to test it in a discreet area to see how your skin reacts.

Witch Hazel

Witch hazel is another antibacterial product that can work well for acne. Typically, the product is used as a toner after cleansing the skin. You simply use a cotton ball to apply the witch hazel on your face, paying special attention to breakouts. Witch hazel is a good option for people with oily skin since it can break up oil and reduce shine. If you have dry skin, it is better to simply apply witch hazel to problem areas to avoid drying out your skin even more.

Aloe Vera

Aloe vera can be an excellent acne-fighting product for a wide range of skin types. When you purchase aloe vera, be sure you are purchasing brands that only contain a high concentration of aloe without many other ingredients. Much like other antibacterial products, it can be used as a spot treatment, but it also works well as a lightweight moisturizer, especially for people with oilier skin. Since aloe vera is frequently applied to sunburns, it also has anti-inflammatory properties that can reduce redness associated with acne.

Not everyone needs strong chemicals or medications to treat acne. Some people may find using the right natural products will help in their fight against acne.
